“The Art of Fishing” is a collection curated to spotlight the fine art and fine craft related to the sport, and some say spiritual experience of fishing. Enjoy fine examples of rod building, fly tying, decoy carving, and lure design along with photographs, paintings, and carvings inspired by this lifelong passion.
Among others you will find the artwork of Al Nelson, Rod Burkle, Kevin Feenstra, Gailen Peterson, Muskegon River Fly Shop, James Churchill, Ryan McConkey, Wes Cooper, Gerald Homminga, Bonnie Knapp, Larry Gouine, Bruce “Mac” MacCarthy, Paul Duer, Allison Kublin, Jane Stroschin and Taylor Cole Greenfield. In addition to original artwork and fine fishing craft, there will be collections of unique lures, and other fishing tackle.
Area angler and river guide Kevin Feenstra will be giving a presentation, Photographing A Big River, at 11:00 a.m. during the reception on Saturday, August 13.
Visitors can also learn about what the Department of Natural Resources Fisheries program is doing to continue
the fishing tradition in Michigan.
