Rebecca DeGroot
Wood Worker – Imaginative Sculptor
January 7 – February 1
Rebecca DeGroot is no stranger to NCCA-Artsplace. In grade school Rebecca could be found hanging out after school at NCCA-Artsplace or taking classes.
Her elementary art teacher, Kris Vredeveld, always thought there was a very special potential in her young art student. Well, Rebecca hasn’t disappointed! Her studies at Kendall College
of Art & Design are coming to a conclusion this spring, when she will graduate with her BFA. She has taken to wood sculpture very quickly and with very creative results. She can be found turning ordinarily functional objects
into rather whimsical and sometimes a bit sci-fi inspired sculptures!
Rebecca can also be found in her natural habitat, the wood shop at Kendall, where she assists other aspiring artists in their creative endeavors.
The work she will be showing is a collection of wood sculpted tables, vessels, and not so ordinary daily objects inspired by crustaceans, and other creatures from nature.
