Cold Encaustic Workshop with Steve Barber

Class Fee: $50 ($45 Members) Ages 16-Adult
Learn Steve Barber’s original technique of cold wax etching into oil paint on a board. The strength of this technique is the precision and variety of line that is easily executed. Each student will have a board that is prepared prior to the workshop so they can start right away. The artist will give tips on how to utilize the technique to create a strong unique “scratching.”

Colored Pencil Workshop Drawing Violets with Anita Sams

Flint-knapping with Scott Fessenden

Saturday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. July 26 Class Fee: $50 ($45 Members) Ages 14-Adult
Using traditional antler bone, stone and copper tools, students will finish at least three arrow heads and a knife point. They will learn about the history of flint-knapping and the geology regarding the different types of flint and obsidian used, along with other fun survival skill tools. Must register a week in advance. Bring a lunch.

Journal Making Workshop with Whitney Korstange

Class Fee: $40 ($35 Members) Ages 16-Adult
Come and learn how to create a beautiful hand bound book perfect for use as a blank book, guest book, journal or photo album. Participants will learn the art of Coptic bookbinding which uses a traditional link stitch and is praised for its decorative sewing pattern, exposed spine and flexibility. In this class the entire bookbinding process will be covered from beginning to end using handmade paper and linen thread.

Introduction to the Potter’s Wheel with Whitney Korstange

Saturday 10:00 a.m – 1:00 p.m. June 14, 21
Class Fee: $85 ($80 Members) Ages 16-Adult
Take this opportunity to learn a new skill – wheel thrown pottery. In this class students will learn the basics of wheel throwing including centering, opening, pulling walls of even thickness and basic shaping, trimming and glazing. The goal of this class is to teach the steps necessary so that students can continue working independently after class. Class fee includes up to 25# of clay per person. Class size is limited to 3 people.
