Tracy will show you how to mount pieces into a circle, rectangle or heart shaped cabochon. Thin china pieces produce the best results. What a great way to keep that special person close to your heart.

Bring some friends or make some new ones in this fun series of painting classes! Learn acrylic painting basics from color theory to brush use with artist, Sharon Smithem. Sharon is a painting and mosaic muralist with a BFA in fine art from Kendall College. Her work has been exhibited throughout Michigan, including the “Donor Tree” mosaic at Tamarac Wellness Center in Fremont! If you have been wanting to experiment with acrylic painting, Sharon is the perfect instructor to help you find your inner art with her Art Uncork’d series! In each of the classes students will complete a 16”x20” canvas that is ready to hang on the wall or give to a friend. All skill levels are welcome so call your friends, bring a snack or beverage to share, and come to one or both of these great classes at NCCA-Artsplace!

If you have never explored the art of printmaking then this is the perfect opportunity. Andrew’s focus as a printmaker is capturing scenes from the natural environment. Join him in learning about the art of linoleum printmaking. In this class students will learn to compose a strong design, transfer the image to linoleum, use carving tools, and then apply ink to create a series of reduction prints that could be framed or become unique greeting cards. Printmaking is an exciting art form that has broad appeal. Pick up a design guide sheet at the NCCA-Artsplace in preparation for the class. Bring a lunch.

Ages 14-Adult
If you love the beauty of a birch tree then this is
a project that will certainly be appealing. This is a
mixture of both painting and collage. Each person
will paint a 14” x 20” wood background piece using
a color scheme of your own choosing. Next, actual
birch bark will be applied to the painted piece. Finally,
a coating of resin will be poured over the entire piece.
To allow for drying/curing time, pieces may be picked
up after February 19. Be prepared for a great learning
experience. Class size limited.

In this class Casey will guide you through the process of
creating a bold, artistic bracelet using a combination of
interlocking jump rings. Make a bracelet for yourself or as a
gift. Come and try a creative jewelry technique.
Stop in at the NCCA-Artsplace during any of
our regularly schedule hours and paint a
mug for that special guy.

Learn how to create a multiple color white-line woodblock print. Inspired by the colorful Japanese multiple woodblock print, a group of printmakers who had settled in Provincetown, MA in the early 1900’s created a unique style that has become to be known as the Provincetown Printmakers white-line woodcut. The white-line woodcut is like no other medium. Learn how to transfer your drawing, carve and color a single woodblock to create a luminous white-line wood block print. This process does not require large equipment, it can be repeated beyond the classroom. Tools and papers are supplied.

Marbling is a technique used for decorating paper and other surfaces by floating acrylic paint on water and then gently placing a specially treated paper on the water to pull a print of the floating paint. Marbled paper has traditionally been used as endpaper in books and can also be used in any paper project requiring unique design. In this class participants will learn the basics of marbling and then create patterns and colors on as many sheets of paper as time allows. Make one of a kind original earrings using traditional metalsmithing techniques. Each participant will cut, shape and texture metal in unlimited choices of shapes and sizes. This is a perfect class for a mother and daughter night.
