Mosaic Sunburst Circle Mirror with Tracy Kehr

Ages 14-Adult

The mosaic sunburst mirror is constructed from a 14” pine
circle, a variety of colorful stained glass pieces and an 8”
round mirror. After receiving instruction in the art of cutting
glass, each participant will create their own design under the
direction of artist, Tracy Kehr. Final designs will be grouted.

Plein Air Possibilities

Monday 9:00 a.m. – Noon July 20 OR July 27

Class Fee: $30 ($25 Members) Ages 14-Adult

Using the medium of your choice (anything easily portable: pen/ink, pastel, graphite or even a small watercolor sketch kit) participants will draw from the landscape. Make sure to bring your tools and your paper/drawing surface. Recommendations provided at registration. First location will be Fremont Lake Park on July 20, second location will be Hardy Dam Boy Scout Trail with view of dam on July 27. Perspective, mark making, and most importantly composition will be part of this class. Viewfinders, sighting sticks and drawing board will be provided. Mild hiking required.

Matting and Framing Workshop

Monday 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

February 8 and 15

Class Fee: $60 ($55 Members)

Ages 16-Adult

Learn the art of mat cutting for your own use or to prepare
a gift for a special person. In this workshop you will
learn about mat selection, how to properly measure, cut
and mount your work, and assemble your frame. Each
participant should bring an 8”x10” piece of art or photograph
(slightly smaller is fine) to frame. Some materials
provided.

Stunning in Silver: Leaf Ring with Cristine Grimm

Monday 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Class Fee: $85 ($80 Members)

Ages 16-Adult

Prerequisite: Stunning in Silver Class

Now that you have taken the basic class with Cristine it
is time to advance to the next step. In this class you will
use Art Clay, the clay that turns to 99.9% silver to create a
beautiful leaf ring. Keep it simple or take the time to add a
colorful cubic zirconia.

Jeweler’s Bench: Metalsmithing Pendant with Casey Bemis

Thursday 6:00-8:00 p.m. September 10, 17, 24

Class Fee: $85 ($80 Members) Ages 14- Adult

This is a rare opportunity to explore the art of crafting metal jewelry. Just imagine wearing a one-of-a-kind pendant made by your own hands. Students will learn to combine found objects and traditional metalsmithing techniques such as cutting, texturing and forming metal. Cold connections will be employed to make unique pieces. Needle Felting – Sheep with Olivia Johnson

Thursday 6:00-8:00 p.m. August 6

Class Fee: $35 ($30 Members) Ages 12-Adult

Continue exploring the art of needle felting with a slightly more advanced class. In this class participants will be using pipe cleaner frames as a structure to create a 4” x 4” sheep or lamb using a barbed needle and wool roving. Each student will receive a kit to take with them to continue exploring at home.

Needle Felting – Whimsical Fox with Olivia Johnson

Thursday 6:00- 8:00 p.m. July 23

Class Fee: $30 ($25 Members) Ages 12-Adult

Summer is a great time to explore new ideas. Come to the NCCA-Artsplace and try the art of needle felting. Olivia will patiently guide you through the process of forming a 3” whimsical fox using a barbed needle and wool roving. Each student will receive a kit to take with them to continue exploring at home.

Landscape Painting with Stephanie Schlatter

Enjoy great social and artistic interaction with our featured artist Stephanie Schlatter. Paint a landscape in the style of her Michigan Wine Trail series, with bright color, dramatic skies, and your favorite view. All materials provided. Fused Glass Wind Chimes with Linda Moore

Thursday, August 6  6:00-9:00 p.m. and

Thursday, August 13 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Class Fee: $60 ($55 Members) Ages 14- Adult

In this class the beauty of glass and the delicate sound of a wind chime will be combined in a unique art piece. During the first class students will select from a variety of vivid colors of glass and use glass cutting tools to cut and design their own wind chimes. The pieces will then be fused off site in a kiln. The following week the wind chime will be assembled with wire and beads. Come and check out the possibilities. No prior experience is required.

Jeweler’s Bench: Beaded Necklace and Earring Design with Julie Prins

Thursday 5:30-8:30 p.m. August 27

Ages 14-Adult

In this class participants will learn to use basic jewelry making tools and findings while designing their own matching set of necklace and earrings. Julie will skillfully guide you in exploring the endless combinations of interesting and colorful beads as you create your own unique fashion statement. Equipped with these new skills, students will be able to continue creating pieces at home. Call a few friends and take this class together.
