Come and explore the wonder of clay. In this class students will learn clay techniques such as rolling slabs, pinching and coiling to construct a variety of art pieces. Students will also learn about glazing and the kiln firing process. Prepare to get muddy!!

Tiny Tots: Introduction to Art for the Young Child with Kris Vredeveld

It is never too early to encourage creativity in your young child or grandchild. In this class we will learn how to “see” the world with “artist eyes” and then create artwork using a variety of media including painting, drawing, clay, mixed media, printmaking, and more. Students will receive instruction in design and technique with lots of laughter. Nothing is better than watching a child discover the arts.

Keepsake Frame or Mirror with Deb Emerick

Age 14-Adult

Deb will teach you how to take small keepsake objects such as buttons, costume jewelry, silverware, stones, coins, beads, game pieces, china bits and apply them creatively to a frame. Check your drawers for those bags of buttons, jewelry or other small items and find a creative home for them. Bring your own frame or choose one of ours.

Using My Publisher to Create Your Own Photo Books

Monday 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Ages 16-Adult

This two night class will get you on your way to using the free My Publisher software to create your own beautiful photo books that will be cherished keepsakes for years to come. The first class will focus on using the My Publisher software to create books using the built in templates. The second class will focus on using Adobe Elements or similar to create your own pages with your own custom layouts. To take full advantage of this class, participants should come to the class with the My Publisher software installed on their laptop. This software may be downloaded for free at mypublisher.com.

Felted Landscape Workshop with Judy Grant

Ages 14-Adult

Come and explore the art of needle felting with instructor Judy Grant. Learn the basics of needle felting using layers of rich, colorful wool roving. Each person will design and create an 8”x10” landscape. After completing your design you will add interest using beads and creative stitching. Bring a photo of the landscape you would like to recreate. Bring a lunch. No prior experience is necessary to thoroughly enjoy this class.

Explore Watercolors in a Day with Cheryl Gould

Saturday 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

May 16

Ages 16-Adult

In this class participants will learn a variety of techniques in watercolor including pouring, spattering, textural effects, masking, lifting, stamping and negative painting. A short review of color theory will begin the day. We will then work on several images with a spring theme during the day in order to allow drying time for each. Do not expect to take home a finished piece, but do expect to have fun, learn lots of techniques unique to watercolors, and be inspired to head off on your own watercolor adventure. We will be using watercolor paper and paints, spray bottles, sponges, plastic wrap, salt, masking fluid, toothbrushes, clear contact paper, exacto knives, and the occasional paint brush. Bring a lunch.

Flintknapping with Scott Fessenden

Saturday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

April 19 Class Fee: $50 ($45 Members)

Ages 14-Adult

Using traditional antler bone, stone and copper tools, students will finish at least three arrow heads and a knife point. They will learn about the history of flint-knapping and the geology regarding the different types of flint and obsidian used, along with other fun survival skill tools. Must register a week in advance. Bring a lunch.

Wine Bottle Mosaics with Mary Anderson

Transform an ordinary wine bottle into a work of art by covering it with beautiful mosaic glass designs. Select from a wide variety of colorful and iridescent glass. Finished designs will be grouted. Come and join certified Art Clay instructor, Cristine Grimm, in exploring Art Clay the clay that turns to 99.9% pure silver when fired. Start out small, making earrings or small pendants with basic techniques that can be used anywhere, anytime, without a kiln. Cristine will bring all the tools and tricks necessary to create something you’ll enjoy wearing or adding to your next beading project. Cost includes silver clay, the use of all necessary tools, and a necklace and jump ring for wearing your jewelry out the door.
