These classes are funded in part by a grant from the FACF Youth Advisory Committee.
These exciting and exploratory art classes are designed to give middle and high school students a chance to learn about art styles and mediums they might not get in a classroom. All materials provided.

April 25 Acrylic Painting

Using acrylic paints, metallic pens, gold and silver leafing, students will create a Gustav Klimt style painting featuring their favorite person, pet or pop icon.

Class Fee: $45($40 Members) Ages 16 – Adult
Add some glitz to your home with this 9”x 24” whitewashed wood sign with mirrored or even stained glass mosaic lettering. In this class students will learn to cut glass and then adhere the pieces to the background wood. Choose from the words “Love”, “Hope”, or another word that will fit the space.

Take a moment out of your summer to explore the art of the colored pencil. In this class students will first learn basic techniques such as blending, layering, and burnishing.  Next, water drops can add life and freshness to your work. Please join us to learn the little details that make those tiny droplets believable. Anita is a master of realistic colored pencil renderings. Come and learn from a master. Bring a lunch.

Friday  9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.   August 11

Class Fee: $70 ($65 Members) Ages 16-Adult

Sandy creates the most amazing hand painted and free stitched quilts that look like intricate zentangle designs. Each participant will complete a 16”x16” quilt top perfect for becoming a wall hanging or pillow top. Participants should be experienced machine quilters, bring their own free motion sewing machines with darning or open toe foot. Bring black thread and also your choice of a second color of thread.  All other materials will be provided. Please arrive 15 minutes early to set up your machine. Bring a lunch.

Introduction to Needle Felting – Let’s Make a Sheep with Olivia Johnson

Class Fee: $30($25 Members) Ages 12-Adult

Spend a fun evening exploring the art of needle felting. Using wool roving and a barbed needle Olivia will gently guide you through the process of forming a sheep. This is a fun activity for a group of friends. Each participant will receive a kit to continue at home.
