Get muddy at NCCA-Artsplace! This class is limited to 6 participants per session so each participant will get
some experience throwing on the potter’s wheel! Students will also learn how to hand build, connect, and roll a
slab! Learn several different finishing techniques including glazing, staining and painting. All work goes home

Experienced photographers will guide students through all of the workings of a digital camera and then take
students outdoors to try some of the different camera settings. The second day they will focus on macro
settings and the rule of thirds. The final day will be spent in a class critique of their work and learning how to

Stunning in Silver with Cristine Grimm

Age 14-Adult

Come and join certified Art Clay instructor, Cristine
Grimm, in exploring Art Clay the clay that turns to
99.9% pure silver when fired. Start out small, making
earrings or small pendants with basic techniques
that can be used anywhere, anytime, without a kiln.
Cristine is a master instructor who will bring all the
tools and tricks necessary to create something you’ll
enjoy wearing or adding to your next beading project.
Cost includes silver clay, the use of all necessary
tools, and a necklace and jump ring for wearing out
the door.

Clay Handbuilding Techniques with Lesa VanSingel

Monday 6:00-8:00 p.m.

February 22, 29, March 7

Class Fee: $70 ($65 Members)

Ages 14-Adult

Come and get your hands dirty while playing with clay. In
this class students will use stoneware clay to try a variety
of handbuilding techniques such as slab building, coil pots,
pinch pots, drape molds and glaze application. Call a teen
or a friend and take this class together.

Clay Nativity for Children with Kris Vredeveld

Thursday 3:45-5:15 p.m.

November 5, 12, 19

Class Fee: $25 ($20 Members)

Ages 6-12

Save a spot in your home for a hand crafted clay nativity
set. Each child will create a minimum of six figures including
people and animals. The finished pieces will be glazed
a single color and fired. This set will become a family
treasure for many years. Limited space available.

Arts Academy II: Encouraging the Artist in Your Child

Monday 3:45-5:15 p.m.

September 21 – October 26

Class Fee: $55 ($50 Members)

Grades 3-5

Adding arts and culture to your child’s education is fun
and important! Students will explore different mediums
including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and
clay while learning about a variety of master artists from
around the world. All materials and a light snack provided.

Intermediate Pottery on the Wheel with Dakota Brandt

Saturday 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

February 6, 20

Class Fee: $85($80 Members)

Ages 14-Adult

Prerequisite: previous pottery wheel experience required

Are you ready to take your wheel throwing to the next
level? Join ceramic artist, Dakota Brandt, and prepare
to explore new techniques such as creating lidded jars
and pulling handles. In between class sessions students
may continue to work in our pottery place and practice
these techniques. Class fee includes up to 25# of clay per
person. Class size limed to 3.

Introduction to Pottery on the Wheel with Whitney Korstange

Saturday 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. September 19, October 3

Ages 12-Adult

Take this opportunity to learn a new skill – wheel thrown pottery. In this class students will learn the basics of wheel throwing including centering, opening, pulling walls of even thickness and basic shaping and trimming. The goal of the class is to teach the steps necessary so that students can continue working independently. The first and second class are spaced a week apart to allow for independent practice time. Class fee includes up to 25# of clay per person. Class size limited to 3.

Kids and Clay with Kris Vredeveld

Tuesday 3:45 – 5:00 p.m. 

January 20, 27, February 3 

Class Fee: $35 ($30 Members)

Ages 6-10

Let’s get muddy!! In this class students will learn clay construction techniques such as rolling a slab, coiling, pinching, glazing and more. The first two weeks will be construction and the last week will be dedicated to glazing. Pieces will be available for pick up after February 10.
