Class Fee: $25 ($20 Members) Ages 6-12

Prepare for the Christmas season by hand building a clay
nativity set. Each child will create a minimum of six figures
including people and animals. The finished pieces will
be glazed a single color and fired. This set will become a
family treasure for many years.

Class Fee: $65 ($55 Members) Ages 15-Adult

This four day course is a brief introduction to throwing pottery
on the wheel and hand building techniques, wrapped
up with finishing green-ware and glazing bisque-ware. The
first three weeks will focus on building clay sculptures and
the last week will focus on glazing. Students can picked
up final fired work one week after last class. Materials
included, open studio time encouraged.

In this basics class come and join certified Art Clay instructor, Cristine Grimm, in exploring Art Clay, the clay that turns to 99.9% pure silver when fired. Start out small, making earrings or small pendants with basic techniques that can be used anywhere, anytime, without a kiln. Cristine is a master instructor who will bring all the tools and tricks necessary to create something you’ll enjoy wearing or adding to your next beading project. Cost includes silver clay, the use of all necessary tools, and a necklace, ear wires or jump ring for wearing your piece out the door.

If you are looking to play with clay in a fun, creative atmosphere come and join artist, Lesa VanSingel. Explore the basic handbuilding techniques of coiling, slumping and pinching. On the third evening the pieces will be glazed. The glazed projects will go through a final firing and be ready to pick up after July 31. Bring a friend that also likes to “get muddy”.

These exciting and exploratory art classes are designed to give middle and high school students a chance to learn about art styles and mediums they might not get in a classroom. All materials provided.

Beginning Pottery on the Wheel with Dakota Brandt

Class Fee: $85 ($80 Members)

Ages 16-Adult

Are you finally ready to learn how to use the potter’s
wheel? Join ceramic artist Dakota Brandt in learning the
techniques of centering the clay, pulling up the sides,
trimming, and finally glazing your own clay pieces. In
between sessions students may continue to work in our
pottery place and practice these techniques. Class fee
includes up to 25# of clay per person. Class size limited
to 3 to ensure maximum time on the wheel.

Doing Art Together – Constructing a Clay Gnome Home

Thursday, June 14, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Class Fee: $20 per pair ($5 each additional child).

Ages 5-100.

This is an adult/child event, so parents and grandparents bring your children, grandchildren, or favorite neighbor. Together we will use clay to design and build an original gnome house complete with doors, flower boxes, shutters, bird’s nests and whatever you can imagine. After construction the pieces will be fired and be available for pick up after June 25.

Ages 10-18.

Get muddy at NCCA-Artsplace! This class is limited to 6 participants per session so each participant will get some experience throwing on the potter’s wheel! Students will also learn how to hand build, connect, and roll a slab! Learn several different finishing techniques including glazing, staining and painting. All work goes home the final day of class.
