Ages 10-18.

Get muddy at NCCA-Artsplace! This class is limited to 6 participants per session so each participant will get some experience throwing on the potter’s wheel! Students will also learn how to hand build, connect, and roll a slab! Learn several different finishing techniques including glazing, staining and painting. All work goes home the final day of class.

 

Beginning Pottery on the Wheel with Dakota Brandt

Class Fee: $85 ($80 Members) Ages 16-Adult
Are you finally ready to learn how to use the potter’s wheel?
Join ceramic artist Dakota Brandt in learning the techniques
of centering the clay, pulling up the sides, trimming, and
finally glazing your own clay pieces. In between sessions
students may continue to work in our Pottery Place and
practice these techniques. Class fee includes up to 25# of
clay per person. Class size limited to 3.

Clay Handbuilding with Lesa VanSingel

Thursday 6:00-8:00 p.m. February 1, 8
Class Fee: $45 ($40 Members) Ages 16-Adult
Come and get muddy! In this class participants will
learn the basics of working with stoneware clay including
joining pieces together, adding texture, using a
slump mold, and glaze application. The first week will
be spent in construction and the second week will be
Clay Hand Building spent glazing. This is a great class to take with a friend.

Family Clay Night

Class Fee: $5/person All ages
Enjoy a family evening at the NCCA-Artsplace. We will have the clay, the instructor, the glazes and the tools. You bring the family. Learn basic handbuilding techniques and then have fun building a variety of pieces. Finished pieces will be available for pick up after December 19.

Clay Nativity for Children with Kris Vredeveld November 2, 9, 16

Class Fee: $30 ($25 Members) Ages 6-12
Save a spot in your home for a handcrafted clay nativity set. Each child will create a minimum of six figures including people and animals. The finished pieces will be glazed a single color and fired. This set will become a family treasure for many years. Limited space available.

Family Art Night – Clay October 12

Thursday 6:00-7:30 p.m. October 12
Class Fee: $5.00/person
Come and explore the art of clay. Time will be given for basic clay instruction and then the fun begins. Create tiles, pinch pots, Christmas ornaments, crazy animals or just explore on your own. Advanced registration is appreciated.

It’s never too early to encourage an interest in art. During this class, beginning students will learn to use a variety of materials to explore drawing, painting, cutting, gluing and clay in a creative, nurturing environment.

Amazing Africa Class Fee $12.00 Ages 6-8
Two Sessions: June 26-29 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.
July 31-August 3 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Pack your passport and bags for a journey to West Africa! Your tour guide, Amy Knuver, back from a year living in Togo, Africa, will teach you about this amazing continent while you create masks, clay sculptures, prints and more.

Summertime Fun Class Fee $12.00 Ages 6-8
Two Sessions: July 10-13 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
August 14-17 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Capture the fun times of summer in colorful works of art. Students will learn to use paint, papers, clay and a variety of other materials to create a camping landscape, melting ice cream cones, bug tiles and a picnic lunch through art.

Students will learn about portraits, landscapes, still life, sculpture and explore using a variety of materials in unexpected ways.

What is that rustling in the leaves? Students will use animals as their inspiration for each project. Painting, drawing, sculpture, clay and printmaking will be explored.

Build it! Learning About Architecture
Class Fee $15 Ages 9-12
Two Sessions: July 10-13 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
August 7-10 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Architecture surrounds you! Students will use clay, printmaking, cardboard and paint to design interesting buildings. Learn about columns, onion shaped domes, dentils, fish scale shingles and more as you become a budding architect.

Sculpture: A Journey to the Third Dimension
Class Fee $15.00 Ages 9-12
Two Sessions: July 24-27 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
August 7-10 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Take a break from the flat world of two dimensional art and enter the world of FORM. Using metal, cardboard, paint and paper mache we will create amazing pieces of art!

Art is Delicious! Class Fee $15.00 Ages 9-12

Using food as an inspiration we will explore clay, papers, collage, mixed media and drawing to design art pieces that will look good enough to eat while learning about some well known artists that became famous for their giant hamburgers and soup cans. This is a recipe for some amazing art.

African Safari Class Fee $15.00 Ages 9-12

If you love to draw, this is the class for you! Sharpen your skills and learn some new techniques while working in a variety of mediums including graphite, charcoal, ink and pastel. Discover the tricks of perspective, how to capture light and shadow, make contour line drawings and how to add texture to your drawings.

Circle this date on your calendar. Join certified Art Clay instructor, Cristine Grimm, in exploring Art Clay, the clay that turns to 99.9% silver when fired. Start out small, making earrings or small pendants with basic techniques. Cristine is a master instructor who will bring all the tools and tricks necessary to create something you enjoy wearing or adding to your next beading project. Cost includes silver clay, the use of all necessary tools, and a necklace and jump ring for wearing your completed piece out the door.
