Spend the morning dying cotton fabric squares with shirbori and other tying and folding techniques. Browse a variety of other dying, overdying, discharging and painting techniques and their results while enjoying lunch. Then in the afternoon practice discharging on silk using paint and stamping methods then unveil the results of the mornings efforts. This class designed to teach fiber artists many ways of artistically applying color to create their own fine fabrics.

Supplies Provided: Fabrics; light blues, dark blues, brown and tans, greens, trees. Wonder
Under (pre-applied to all fabrics), 7” x 9” backing and lining, 8” x 10” art frame, 10½” x 12½”
blue fabric to cover art frame, Parchment paper for ironing.
Need to Bring: Sewing machine (with open toe or free motion foot, and regular foot), scissors,
rotary cutter/mat and threads – suggested list upon registration.

Come and spend a colorful day learning the art of batik. Batik involves applying melted wax and colorful dyes to fabric. In this class you will learn how to use plain white cotton fabric, hot wax, and a rainbow of dyes to create pieces of batik fabric to use in your next creative sewing project, or use as a wall hanging! Bring a lunch. No experience necessary.

Teen Fashion Sewing – Drawstring Backpack or Tote Bag with Laurie Breza

Create a designer-style tote bag or backpack! Using
Simplicity – It’s So Easy patterns you will learn skills
