the FACF Youth Advisory Committee.

These exciting and exploratory art classes are designed
to give middle and high school students a chance to learn
about art styles and mediums they might not get in a
classroom. All materials provided.

November 5 Fimo Clay Relief Pendants
Using a variety of colors of fimo clay, texture plates and
gold, copper and silver powders students will make
stunning relief pendants.

October 22 – Glass Bead Making

Using Italian glass rods and hot head torches students
will create 2-3 unique glass beads to fit a leather bracelet,
necklace or earrings.

This class is designed to provide an experience few people will ever have an opportunity to try. Each participant will learn to cut, shape and polish a stone in preparation for creating a one-of-a-kind pendant. Next, students will design a silver setting for their stone. Open studio time will be available during the course. Bring your own stone or select from our supply. Don’t miss this opportunity to work with master jewelers.

In this basics class come and join certified Art Clay instructor, Cristine Grimm, in exploring Art Clay, the clay that turns to 99.9% pure silver when fired. Start out small, making earrings or small pendants with basic techniques that can be used anywhere, anytime, without a kiln. Cristine is a master instructor who will bring all the tools and tricks necessary to create something you’ll enjoy wearing or adding to your next beading project. Cost includes silver clay, the use of all necessary tools, and a necklace, ear wires or jump ring for wearing your piece out the door.

Students will create one of a kind glass beads using Moretti Italian glass rods, Hothead gas torches, mandrels, stringers, frit and more! Finished beads will be hung on a pendant and added to a necklace.

Participants will learn the creative technique of metal etching in this one day jewelry class with Casey Bemis. Designing, blocking and masking with enamel, acid etching, patina application and hammering will all be part of this hands on art adventure Students will break for lunch while the copper is etching. Pack a lunch or take a brief walk to Mixed Media Painting one of our local restaurants.

Wire Wrapping Jewelry with Molly Wahr

We are excited to offer this jewelry making class at the NCCA-Artsplace! If you are looking for an introduction to an exquisite jewelry technique then wire wrapping with Molly Wahr is the perfect class for you. Participants will learn to use copper wire to wrap a cabochon. These wrapped pieces become stunning pendants. Cabochons provided. Bring reading glasses, if needed, for detailed work
