We are excited to offer this jewelry making class at NCCA-Artsplace! If you are looking for an introduction to an exquisite jewelry technique then wire wrapping with Molly Wahr is the perfect class for you. Participants will learn to use copper wire to wrap a cabochon. These wrapped pieces become stunning pendants. Cabochons provided. Bring reading glasses if needed for detailed work.

In this class Casey will guide you through the process of creating your own design on brass or copper. It’s never too early to encourage an interest in art. During this class, beginning students will learn to use a variety of materials to explore drawing, painting, cutting, gluing and clay in a creative, nurturing environment.

Amazing Africa Class Fee $12.00 Ages 6-8
Two Sessions: June 26-29 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.
July 31-August 3 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Pack your passport and bags for a journey to West Africa! Your tour guide, Amy Knuver, back from a year living in Togo, Africa, will teach you about this amazing continent while you create masks, clay sculptures, prints and more.

Summertime Fun Class Fee $12.00 Ages 6-8

Capture the fun times of summer in colorful works of art. Students will learn to use paint, papers, clay and a variety of other materials to create a camping landscape, melting ice cream cones, bug tiles and a picnic lunch through art.

Build it! Learning About Architecture

Architecture surrounds you! Students will use clay, printmaking, cardboard and paint to design interesting buildings. Learn about columns, onion shaped domes, dentils, fish scale shingles and more as you become a budding architect.

Sculpture: A Journey to the Third Dimension

Take a break from the flat world of two dimensional art and enter the world of FORM. Using metal, cardboard, paint and paper mache we will create amazing pieces of art!

Using food as an inspiration we will explore clay, papers, collage, mixed media and drawing to design art pieces that will look good enough to eat while learning about some well known artists that became famous for their giant hamburgers and soup cans. This is a recipe for some amazing art.

If you love to draw, this is the class for you! Sharpen your skills and learn some new techniques while working in a variety of mediums including graphite, charcoal, ink and pastel. Discover the tricks of perspective, how to capture light and shadow, make contour line drawings and how to add texture to your drawings.

Get muddy at NCCA-Artsplace! This class is limited to 6 participants per session so each participant will get some experience throwing on the potter’s wheel! Students will also learn how to hand build, connect, and roll a slab! Learn several different finishing techniques including glazing, staining and painting. All work goes home the final day of class.

This class is designed to provide an experience few people will ever have an opportunity to try. Each participant will learn to cut, shape and polish a stone in preparation for creating a one-of-a-kind pendant. Next, students will design a silver setting for their stone. Open studio time will be available during the course. Bring your own stone or select from our supply. Don’t miss this opportunity to work with master jewelers.

Needle Felting with Olivia Johnson: Necklace

Ages 12-Adult
This is a new felting idea from Olivia. In this class students will use colorful wool roving and barbed needles to make a collection of round beads. These beads will be strung together to make a very artistic fashion statement for fall. Each participant will receive a kit to continue felting at home.

Come and join certified Art Clay instructor, Cristine
Grimm, in exploring Art Clay the clay that turns to
99.9% pure silver when fired. Make earrings or small
pendants with basic techniques that can be used
anywhere, anytime, without a kiln. Cristine is a master
instructor who will bring all the tools and tricks necessary
to create something beautiful! Cost includes silver
clay, the use of all necessary tools, and a necklace and
jump ring for wearing out the door.
