Wood People Sculptures

Thursday, August 21,  6:00-7:30 p.m.

$8 per sculpture
Using interesting scraps of wood, wire, buttons, natural stains and assorted junk each person will construct a sculpture of a person using dowels to join all the pieces. This sculpture could be mounted in a block of wood or hung on the wall. Feel free to bring old buttons, knobs, keys, foreign coins to add interest to your pieces.

our regularly schedule hours and paint a
mug for that special guy.
Prices vary by style.

will be available for pick up June 11.

Mixed Media Collage

Thursday,  July 31, 6:00-7:30 p.m.

$8 per collage
Collage can be an exciting media. This project will involve paint, sticks, photos, beads, and more as each person develops their own design on an 8” x 8” canvas board. When the design is complete the NCCA staff will seal it with a poured acrylic coating. It will be available for pick up after August 4.

Landscape Painting on Canvas

Thursday, June 26,  6:00-7:30 p.m.

$8 per painting

Each family member will paint a 12”x12” landscape which could be displayed by itself or placed together for a panoramic view. Don’t be afraid an instructor will gently guide you through the process.

Get muddy at NCCA-Artsplace! Learn how to hand build, connect, roll a slab, and throw on the pottery wheel!
Learn several different finishing techniques including glazing, staining and painting. All work goes home the final day of class. Three different sessions to choose from!

Digital Photography, Ages 9-12

Experienced Photographer Paul Petersen will guide students through all of the workings of a digital camera and then take students outdoors to try some of the different camera settings. The second day they will focus on macro settings and the rule of thirds. The final day will be spent in a class critique of their work and learning how to mat their best photograph.

Drawing, Ages 9-12

There are many different drawing techniques such as capturing light and shadow using a light source, using contour line drawing and adding texture. This is a perfect opportunity to improve your drawing skills using a variety of materials.

Art by Design, Ages 9-12

How do artists plan their art work? Are there rules of design? In this class you will learn some of the design principles such as center of interest, movement, repetition, variety, balance and unity. Next, you will use these design principles and some interesting art materials to make your own amazing art pieces. How about junk painting on canvas, painting with dots or colorful printmaking? You will soon be thinking and creating like an artist.

Time Travel The History of Art, Ages 9-12

Travel back in time this summer to ancient Greece and castles built during the Middle Ages. What can we learn from the artists of the past? We will explore some of their methods while making our own art work using paint, tin work, printmaking and a fantastic mixed media painting.
