Calling all creative minds. Prepare to leave your flat, two dimensional world behind. The third dimension is calling your name. Get ready to use wire to form expressive people, create abstract art from your grandma’s stockings, make a village on the edge of a clay pot and use wood to make an interesting form. Don’t be afraid. The third dimension is amazing!

 

Under the Rainbow

August 10-13

Monday-Thursday    10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Ages 4-5

It is never too early to start learning about the elements of art and color is the first one that every young artist needs to learn.  In this class, these tiny artists will work on projects that involve the observation and use of color from color experiments, color mixing and using colors in their art work. Look for projects that include painting, drawing, coloring and cutting.

Smart About Art

July 6-9

Monday- Thursday    12:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Ages 9-12

Summer is the perfect time to get smart about art. In this class we will learn about unusual artists like George Rodrigue and his fascination with blue dogs, Jasper Johns and his unique American flag paintings, Pablo Picasso and his colorful, scrambled faces, and Wayne Thiebaud and his delicious desserts. Get ready to use clay, paint, cardboard, and more to create artwork in the style of these interesting artists.

Canvas Painting Challenge for Kids with Kris Vredeveld

Did you ever want to paint like a real artist? In this class students will be learning painting techniques, color theory, art styles and the elements of art. Each week will be a new canvas and a new challenge. Are you ready?? Class size limited to 10.

Kids and Clay with Kris Vredeveld

Ages 6-10

Let’s get muddy!! In this class students will learn clay construction techniques such as rolling a slab, coiling, pinching, glazing and more. The first two weeks will be construction and the last week will be dedicated to glazing. Pieces will be available for pick up after February 10.

April 15, 22, 29, May 6

Class Fee: $35 ($30 Members)

Ages 6-12

Come and explore the wonder of clay. In this class students will learn clay techniques such as rolling slabs, pinching and coiling to construct a variety of art pieces. Students will also learn about glazing and the kiln firing process. Prepare to get muddy!!

Tiny Tots: Introduction to Art for the Young Child with Kris Vredeveld

April 15, 22, 29, May 6

Ages 3-5 with adult

It is never too early to encourage creativity in your young child or grandchild. In this class we will learn how to “see” the world with “artist eyes” and then create artwork using a variety of media including painting, drawing, clay, mixed media, printmaking, and more. Students will receive instruction in design and technique with lots of laughter. Nothing is better than watching a child discover the arts.

Class Fee: $10

Ages 5-12

Hear the rhythm of the drum beat!! Our fun and enthusiastic instructor, Brenda Huckins Bonter, will introduce students to a variety of unique African drums and rhythm instruments. Student will learn to create a variety of beats and group rhythms that will make the building dance. Take advantage of this opportunity for your children and a group of their friends.

This is a class for girls that like to experiment with a variety of art materials in a fun, encouraging atmosphere. Mrs. Vredeveld has been experimenting with many new ideas that she can’t wait to share with the Girl’s Club. Come, enjoy a healthy snack and begin creating.
