This series of classes is designed with busy teenagers in
mind, you can sign up for one class or attend each week
for the whole summer! Let your creativity shine each week
while learning new techniques for jewelry making, painting,
and even fly tying! Advanced registration required.

Arches to Zigzags

July 27-30

Monday-Thursday    10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Ages 6-8

Windows and roof lines, doors and towers, arches and zigzags. Come and investigate the interesting world of buildings. Learn to observe and identify architecture styles in your own community and then use interesting materials to create a cardboard and oil pastel cityscape, a clay castle, a drawing with metallic markers in front of a watercolor sky and more.

Where the Wild Things Are

July 20-23

Monday-Thursday    10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Ages 4-5

From the sky to the ground and into the sea. These beginning artists will be introduced to a variety of art mediums such as clay, paint, and cut papers as they look to the animal kingdom for inspiration for their work. They will learn to recognize and use art concepts such as color, shape, lines, patterns, form and texture.

 

Under the Rainbow

July 6-9

Monday-Thursday    10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Ages 4-5

It is never too early to start learning about the elements of art and color is the first one that every young artist needs to learn.  In this class, these tiny artists will work on projects that involve the observation and use of color from color experiments, color mixing and using colors in their art work. Look for projects that include painting, drawing, coloring and cutting.

Get muddy at NCCA-Artsplace! This class is limited to 6 participants per session so each participant will get some experience throwing on the potter’s wheel! Students will also learn how to hand build, connect, and roll a slab! Learn several different finishing techniques including glazing, staining and painting. All work goes home the final day of class.

 

African Safari

August 3-6

Monday-Thursday    10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Ages 6-8

Get your bags packed and your passport ready. We’re going on an African safari!  Prepare to use clay making skills to create a relief tile of your favorite African animal.  Create a symmetrical mask with unusual painting techniques. Use paint to capture a parade of animal silhouettes in front of a blazing sunset and test your sculpting skills in constructing a giraffe. Just follow the beat of the drum to the NCCA-Artsplace for a great summer adventure!
