Students will use clay to form their own nativity set which will include at least six figures. The first two classes will be spent forming the figures. On the last day students will select one color and glaze all their pieces. This will become a family keepsake. *Available for pick up after firing.

NCCA-Artsplace Youth Art Exhibit

NCCA-Artsplace Youth Art Exhibit: March 4-26

The 2020 Youth Art Exhibit was given the theme “Imagine That!” and showcases imagination and creativity! Teachers and parents of children from the Newaygo County area submitted artwork from school children Kindergarten through 6th grade. Selected entries along with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards, honorable mention and special recognition, will be on display in the Jansma Gallery at NCCA-Artsplace!

The NCCA-Artsplace Youth Art Award Ceremony scheduled for Friday, March 27 have been cancelled. We will distribute all of the artwork and prizes to schools once they are back in session.

Lindsay will guide you through washes, dry brushing and detailing using underglazes, watercolor glazes and fun tools and tips. There are girl and guy garden gnomes to choose from, decorate one or two to keep your landscape safe and free of trolls all summer long!

Now booking a four day art trek to the Amazon rain forest. While exploring we will look for interesting animals, colorful native crafts, and lush environments. These travels will be the inspiration for our artwork.

Using the artistic technique of continuous line drawing, participants will “draw” using fine gauge wire, loping, crimping and curving it into a defined image.

Painting Workshop – What is a landscape? Canvas Painting for Kids December 28

Thursday 1:00-3:00 p.m. December 28
Class Fee: $20 Ages 8-18
Save a date during Christmas vacation to explore the art of landscape painting. Using a 12”x12” canvas, acrylic paint and a selection of mixed media supplies students will learn how to create their own landscape piece using fundamentals like foreground, middleground, background and horizon line. Students will be divided by age groups.

ARTPRIZE EXHIBIT: KINDNESS NEWAYGO COUNTY

Through October 8 – “Kindness – Newaygo County” – a collaborative project with artist Jane Stroschin, NCRESA, Spectrum Health and NCCA-Artsplace. The project is a community effort to make kindness more common.  Located at the City Water Building by the Richard App Gallery, located at 1101 Monroe Avenue in Grand Rapids.
