Have you always wanted to try painting on a canvas?
This is a perfect opportunity to learn technique and
color theory with artist Sharon Smithem. Each person
will use acrylic paint to create a dramatic close up of a
sunflower on a 16”x20” canvas. This is a fun evening
for a group of friends.

Adding arts and culture to your child’s education is fun
and important! Students will explore different mediums
including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and
clay while learning about a variety of master artists from
around the world. All materials and a light snack provided.

Arts Academy I: Installing the Love of Art in Your Child

Grades K-2

Looking to supplement your child’s art education? This
class is a vibrant and fun introduction to the art basics
such as color theory, painting, sculpture, and printmaking.
Each class will be a hands-on approach to art surrounded
by art theory and examples of famous art work.

Plein Air Possibilities

Monday 9:00 a.m. – Noon July 20 OR July 27

Class Fee: $30 ($25 Members) Ages 14-Adult

Using the medium of your choice (anything easily portable: pen/ink, pastel, graphite or even a small watercolor sketch kit) participants will draw from the landscape. Make sure to bring your tools and your paper/drawing surface. Recommendations provided at registration. First location will be Fremont Lake Park on July 20, second location will be Hardy Dam Boy Scout Trail with view of dam on July 27. Perspective, mark making, and most importantly composition will be part of this class. Viewfinders, sighting sticks and drawing board will be provided. Mild hiking required.

The Great Outdoors I, Ages 6-8

Class Fee $12.00, Ages 6-8

The hoot of an owl, the buzzing of a bee, the blossom on a flower – each of these can be an inspiration for creative art pieces and interesting art techniques. We will be exploring three dimensional clay sculptures, reduction printmaking, painting and collage to capture the wonder of the great outdoors.

Imagine exploring the tombs of King Tut, traveling down the Nile River, and taking a desert camel ride past the great pyramids. All these experiences will seem to come true as you create paintings, prints, drawings, collages and assemblages.
